Easily accessible from the UK, Holland is known for its low lying land and system of dykes and dams that have allowed land below sea level to be reclaimed. Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hook of Holland are all served by ferries from the UK.
Amsterdam famous for its canals, street cafes and culture is also a centre for commerce and finance. It has a vibrant nightlife and many ethnic restaurants from the affordable to upmarket. There are over a hundred festivals each year in Amsterdam welcoming visitors from all over the world.
Bruges close to the North Sea is world heritage site with many canals and historic buildings from the medieval period. It has a number of historic churches, also a famous bell tower, and a Michelangelo sculpture to view.
There are many national parks and the flat countryside make Holland an excellent place for some easy cycling.
